Grant’s Administration Successes

• Grant created the Force Acts which were used as ways to stop violence that was growing in the United states after the Civil War these acts were very effective against the first incarnation of the KKK crippling them with the third act allowing Grant to use military force against them and other hate groups.
• Grant signed the 15th amendment into the Constitution allowing Black men the right to vote.
• Established the the Department of Justice to deal with legal issues that happened during the time of reconstruction

Grant’s Administration Failures

• There was rampant corruption that followed his presidency this was largely due to the fact that Grant was not a politician and made poor judgement on who was in his administration.
• An example of a corruption cases that his admin took part in was Credit Mobilier of 1872 where many members of congress were bribed by a railroad company that did not want to be investigated for fraud.
• Grant’s admin had to deal with the economic depression that happened in 1873 that left many people unemployed and lead to many bank failing.
