Grants early life overview

Born April 27, 1822 in the state of Ohio son of Jesse and Hannah Grant.
Grant was very good in taking care of the horses that was on his family’s farm and was very good at dealing with horse that were unruly.
His father put Grant into West Point Military academy due to them offering a free education as long as he served in the military after his time there Grant did not want to go but was convinced by his father to go.
Grant served in the War against Mexico where he was a lieutenant in the infantry and he would serve under the future president Zachary Taylor.
After military service he married Julia Dent and during his wedding three of the people that attended would later become confederate generals that he would have to fight during the Civil War
